19 Mercer-Williams House

The Mercer-Williams House, located at 429 Bull Street, was designed by New York architect John S. Norris for General Hugh W. Mercer, great-grandfather of the well known songwriter Johnny Mercer. Construction began in 1860, was slowed by the Civil War, and completed in 1868. Because General Mercer sold the UNFINISHED structure to John R. Wilder, no Mercer family member ever lived in the house.
