Located in the center of the downtown Savannah historic district at 15 East Liberty Street, the current, and recently modernized, DeSoto Hotel is convenient to everything.
This hotel was built on the site of the original Hotel DeSoto which was a 300-room resort, designed by William G. Preston and built in 1890. The original hotel closed in 1965 and was, sadly, totally demolished to make way for the new hotel. The present hotel opened in 1968 as the DeSoto Hilton. It was renovated in 2017, at a cost of $9.4 million. The Desoto Hotel is currently managed by Sotherly Hotels.
